We all have heard of the fairy tale ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ in our childhood and probably one of our favorite fantasy stories. Brothers Grimm wrote this masterpiece way back in 1812. It is imperative that fantasy authors take inspiration from this masterpiece to write a fiction story. But when a kid wanted to know the name of seven dwarfs, they have no answer as Brothers Grimm didn’t mention the name of the seven dwarfs in the story. Thus when Walt Disney decided to make an animation movie in the 20th century based on the story of Brothers Grimm, he thought naming the dwarfs would have a cogent impact on the story. So the Disney team came up with the names of seven dwarfs in the movie ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs‘ (1937) which are given below.
#1 Happy
As the name suggests, Happy always has a cute smile on his face. You can easily identify this jovial dwarf having a big fat smile on his face. We all love Happy as he always looks cheerful every time even when the other dwarfs are worried finding Snow White sleeping in their house and thinking her as their cleaning monster. The only time he looked worried when princess Snow White bit the witch’s apple and falls into sleeping death.
#2 Sleepy
Sleepy goes by his name. He is as diligent as the rest of his comrades in the mine. He never fails to keep his lackadaisical, phlegmatic working style and more frequently he is ready to take power nap with few winks almost anywhere and everywhere. While he is yawning and tired, he never loses his intelligence and wits which he always carry with confidence.
#3 Sneezy
A yellow brown tunic wearing dwarf. The name says everything. He can’t control his terrible powerful sneeze which can happen anytime and his sneeze can blow even the heavy objects in a room. He has that uncontrollable finger that is always ready under his nose to make him go into sneezing mode. But his comrades are always there to help him in every possible way by tying nose in a knot.
#4 Dopey
Dopey is the bald, over-sized and clean faced dwarf. He is the youngest among the dwarfs and childish in nature. Also known for his sweetness and cuteness and affection towards the princess. He is always ready to steal kisses from the Snow White and hardly speaks. In fact he never tries to speak. He wears a purple hat.
#5 Grumpy
The stubborn dwarf with white hair, tough beard and wearing a red tunic. He has the knack of saying “No!” to anything and everything. He looks sagacious and intelligent. His omniscient and never giving up attitude helps the dwarfs rescue the snow white from the hands of the evil Queen.
#6 Bashful
Bashful is the shyest dwarf among the lot. Bashful is not afraid to blush and battle his eyelids and knotting his beard to impress the princess. He calls the princess, “She is beautiful, like an angel,” even when the other dwarfs are suspicious of finding snow white in the house. He looks quite similar to Sneezy and Sleepy. Bashful wears a magenta cap and wears purple tunic robe.
One of his famous dialogues – “My cup’s been washed. Sugar’s gone!”
#7 Doc
The leader among the seven dwarfs and the boss of the comrade. He is the bossy rival of Grumpy and he is the one to give plans to the dwarfs about their plan of activity and action. His mind works faster than he can frame words and sentences. He is there to convince the dwarfs that the princess must stay with them. Doc has a white hair and beard and always excited to put his ideas and thoughts. You can easily identify him as he wears an orange brown tunic and glasses.
Conclusion
Who’s your favorite dwarf? I like all of them.
