10 Daily habits that makes us unproductive

We all try to lead a happy and prosperous life. People have virtues and vice simultaneously which can’t be denied. But it’s up to the individuals to deal with good habits and virtues that make them lead a healthy life. That doesn’t mean that people doesn’t have ill habits. I don’t exactly mean bad habits here. People always have tendency to enjoy the comfort of some habits that sometimes can turn you into a unproductive person. Let’s list those daily habits that are not actually bad habits but may turn into an unproductive person who doesn’t respect time in this fast paced world.

1) Having only tea/coffee instead of breakfast

Everyone needs tea/coffee and it’s really refreshing and motivating for working people. But having too much coffee is not good for health sometimes. It is often see people neglect breakfast in morning and just run to office with a cup of coffee. This is bad as breakfast is the most important meal of the day and you must not neglect breakfast at any cost. Breakfast gives you the energy to focus at work Your mind and body will function better if you have proper breakfast which is not possible if you’re having just tea or coffee.

2) Attending useless meetings

Attending meeting is necessary at workplace but it is often seen that meetings are waste of time if you are not actually required in the meeting. If you see a batch attending the meeting, you ask your manager or boss whether your attendance is necessary. If the meeting is meant for you, it is no brainer you must attend as the information related to task will be discussed/highlighted but meetings in group often led to confusion and thus should be strictly avoided.

3)Attending the whatsapp messages

In this digital age, we all are addicted to electronic gadgets. We are hooked to our cell phones all the time. This is one of the worst daily habits and very dangerous that impacts our productivity. Most common activity in cell phone is glancing through the WhatsApp messages in course of work. We must strictly avoid checking WhatsApp messages every now and then if we want to focus and increase productivity at work and life. There is enough time for us to check WhatsApp messages once we are back from work and relaxing at home, we can check the missed WhatsApp messages.

4)Continuosly sitting on your office desk for long time

A big mistake and a big deterrent to work productivity is sitting at the same place in front of the laptop/PC for long time. You must take a minimum break from work. Don’t sit and work on the computer for long time. Sooner or later, you will feel shoulder pain, neck pain, eye problems. Thus don’t think sitting in front of laptop at work makes you a productive employee, rather it is detrimental to your health and taking proper breaks from work is absolutely necessary.

5)Gossiping intermittently

One of the irritating daily habits that looks so irritating is that there are lot of workers, co workers busy gossiping during work. This reduces productivity and you must talk only when necessary. Unnecessary gossip makes the environment unproductive.

6)Spending more time in gym

Staying fit is great. Hitting the gym is necessary but you should not be spending more time in a gym unless you are a fitness professional. If you are working professional, spend the time in the gym wisely doing proper exercise given by the instructors. It’s often seen people sees gym as a place of hangout and spends more time without being productive.

7)Starting late for office

There are people who make it a daily habit of going late to office. They behave as if they are busiest person in town. Thus they become careless at work and life as they arrive late for office and make excuses for delay. Don’t fall in this category. Try to wake up early and make use of time properly so you don’t run late for work.

8) Spending long watch hours on Television

Watching television is important. We must be aware of news, local, global and things happening around us daily. We entertain ourselves by watching television by watching movies, shows. But too much watching TV serials can make us unproductive neglecting our personal task and daily house task. We must watch and set proper time of watching if we want to be productive at life.

9) Playing video games

Video games are probably one of the worst daily habits you must strictly avoid. I know playing video games reduces stress but this cannot be an addiction. There are lot of better things to do. Play outdoor games and you’ll see the difference.

10) Thinking about the future task at work

We are always worried about the future. When we are done through the day’s work and returning to home, we still think about our future task and feel worried. We need to duck these things out of our mind and focus on the present and less pondering over the future.

Conclusion

There are so many daily habits which make us unproductive. I have listed a few. Even I’m trying to eliminate some of these daily habits from my schedule and move on to productive habits and hobbies. Feel free to list yours in the comments.

    These points make a lot of sense, especially the last one. Mulling over future tasks isn’t actually very productive, especially if you’re tired! It’s pretty much a waste of time and energy.

    TV and various apps have lead to me getting nothing done in a day before. Now I limit screen time.

    I am guilty of #1, at least some of the time. I used to never drink coffee and always ate soon after waking up. Now I get coffee in the morning and get to work on stuff while often skipping breakfast entirely.
