Fiction – Definition and usage

Fiction is that form of literary work where author uses his/her imagination to depict the characters, time, place, plot in the story. Novella, novels, short stories are based on fiction.

It may not always contain imaginary facts and figures. It can have real world fact which may be bigger than a mere simple story. The author should at first think fiction as a real world phenomenon before pitching in with the fictional concept. It emanates as a concept from both real facts and imaginary facts.

The two most important concept behind writing a story is as follows.

Fiction : Deciphering problems/challenges

Once a real story comes in picture, the author may find problems/challenges in the actual facts. Fictional concepts can act as a solution to the problems and can subsidize the loopholes and challenges.

Fiction : Any Forms

Basically fiction is the thin horizon between pragmatism and absurdity. It can also be based on historic events, the story characters can have fictitious backgrounds, settings and authors change those real life characters into fictitious ones. The great thing here is that author can give any form to the characters irrelevant to science, history, demographic setting while writing a fiction story. He is free to design his characters and put them to life in the book.

Conclusion

The purpose of fiction is beyond a simple story. It gives audience a message, carry them through emotions and at the same time educate and entertain the audience as they never had before. Author can use this concept to point flaws in the society culture in a meaningful way to enlighten the minds of readers .
