Knowing Your Weakness can be your Greatest Strength.

I have seen very few people discuss this important topic. All humans have weaknesses. But do we know that knowing our weaknesses can also be our greatest strength if used in a proper way.

People mock you if they see/know your weaknesses. You feel discouraged when people laugh at you and then you lose confidence. It is very difficult to regain your self confidence once you lose it. There is no need to be ashamed of, my dear friend. Every humans have weaknesses. But the world always judges you if you fail, The best way to dodge this is to hide your weakness and display your strengths.

Remember no one is perfect in this world. People admire strengths, courage and grit. Strength doesn’t mean your physical power only. Strength can be your talent or skills in any subject. So why not hide your weakness and display only your skills/strength?

We need to identify our weaknesses before proceeding to commence with any task. Otherwise people will hurt us if they see any sign of our weaknesses. They can be your office colleagues, your school friends, your college friends, relatives, your boss, your juniors, seniors, anyone. Let’s explain with the following examples.

Sports

Although I am not a football player or any sportsman, I am taking this example as this is one of most favourite games in the world. I am just like you a sports lover. A soccer player knows his skill the best when competing in the ground during the initial phase of his career.

Suppose he is playing the role of a defender and he is unable to defend and his coach and team players rebuke him for his performance. But he knows, his best strength comes in play if he could have played the role of striker or midfielder. His performance would have been way better. Unfortunately, he is instructed to play as a defender by his coach or senior player where he can’t perform well.

Now if he is smart sports person, knowing his skills better than anyone, during the course of football match, if he starts playing the role of a striker or midfielder and give exceptional performance for his team, he will be applauded by his team, coach. But if he fails, he may be thrown out of the team as he has not followed his role. This can be a life lesson and one should take a note of it in any phase of life. The crux of the discussion here is always display skills which you have mastered. Learning your weakness is must but mastering your strengths is equally important . If you are hiding your weaknesses, you need to play with your strength and show what you are best at. Then nobody can mock you.

Working Professionals

The same can be explained if you are working in a corporate world. Suppose you are an engineer or technician or a programmer or in any other role. You know your job role. But when you join the company, you might think you will get to work on your skills or strengths and display your dexterity at work. But what if you are given some other task requiring different skills which you are unaware of. Not every time you will have the luxury to work on your strengths or your known skill sets.

Here you need to hide your weakness and convince the task allocator that you can perform well on your desired skill set, not on the other unknown skill sets. Don’t just blindly take up the task involving a different skill set. If you falter, you can be in bad books of your superior. Thus you need to display your own skill or strength in the right set of work. Remember learning new skills is always welcome for career growth but you must display perfection and authority on your specific skills and strengths and emerge super successful.

Thus identifying the weaknesses is very important and the same time very challenging. Once you know your weakness, you tactfully avoid to show your weakness and focus on displaying your strengths to be successful in life.

It’s like the power of positive thinking or a growth mind set. It’s the power of yet… It may initially be a weakness but it could soon be a strength

I also believe that when we find out weakness – we have an opportunity to find a strength in it.
My stubbornness = stickability. But I have to recognise WHEN I am simply being stubborn – versus when I am simply not going to let go! And this is the power of harnessing our weakness and then working with it!

It’s empowering to know your own weaknesses and be able to identify how you can work on them or make the best of them — not to mention a really important life skill. Thanks for sharing!

Being weak is something so many people view as negative. They try to hide it but never truly face it, and that fear keeps growing. It is well said that we must face our fears. I believe they make us stronger; that they make us human, and give us something so we can learn to befriend and grow.

It’s indeed important to know your weaknesses and how to work with them. Sometimes it also helps to admit your mistake, if you’re in a supportive work environment. People actually like helping you if you ask for it (in a good way). Thanks for the post!

This is excellent and so true. I have spent a lot of time learning my weaknesses in the past year. I’ve had to admit things about myself that I never wanted to admit BUT it’s been life-changing. It’s allowed me to accept that although I may not be good at this or able to do this, I can do other, equally as important things.

So funny that I saw this. Just learned this week that I have High Functioning Anxiety. Some look at this as a weakness. I saw it as an asset.

    Thanks for sharing this post!!
    Have a great day!!
