Fiction characters – Top 5

Lets discuss something interesting. We all have gone through lot of fiction novels. All of the fiction stories consist of interesting , intriguing characters be it protagonist, antagonist , main characters and so on. I am giving top 5 fiction characters from novels which gave us goose bumps . We became fan of those fiction characters and the list is as follows.

#1 Long John Silver

Long John Silver is the antagonist from R L Stevenson classic ‘Treasure Island’. He is the most intriguing, fearsome character in the novel. He is one legged, cunning yet a lovable character. Jim Hawkins, the protagonist treats him as his guru and a father figure. Sliver never harms Hawkins although he is cold blooded murderer .He defines the pirate image definition in modern pop culture. Such was the aura of Long John.

#2 Faria

Abbe Faria is one of greatest fictional characters from the novel ” The Count of Monte Christo” by Alexandre Dumas. Faria is probably the greatest sage and influencer. His association with the protagonist Edmond Dantes in the deadliest prison Chateau d ‘lf forms the crux of the story. He teaches and transform Dantes into a confident man never to despair and have faith in almighty. He let Dantes know the secret treasure by gifting him the torn manuscript containing the map of the hidden treasure . Dantes never forgets his father figure Faria as he has shown him the path of survival in times of distress.

#3 Milady De Winter

Milady is the ultimate seductress, femme fatale character in the ‘The three musketeers’ novel by Alexandra Dumas. She is known for her cunning persona and she can make any man fall on her knees . Branding herself a criminal with the famous tatoo ‘ fleur di lis’ ,she will trick all the skillful musketeers until D’Artagnan would thwart her plan

#4 Fagin

The most notorious character from Oliver Twist, a Charles Dickens classic is Fagin. Undoubtedly one of the most evil characters who uses children for illegal activities, stealing ,pickpocketing and other criminal activities. He employs little children, teenagers and make them his followers. Kids like Artful Dodger and Charlie bates are his loyal miscreants . Fagin uses metaphors “My dear ” so shrewdly that it literally give chills to the readers . The way he will plot murder of Nancy, his former pupil is heart wrenching. Indeed he faces a gruesome death in the end of the story. Modern pop culture associates the name Fagin with an adult who let children do illegal and criminal activities.

#5 Jack Martin

The pivotal character in the novel ‘The Coral Island ‘ by R M Ballantyne is Jack Martin. Jack is a well built 18 year old man and the protective friend of the two teenagers- Ralph and Peterkin. The story starts when they were ship wrecked and marooned in an island. Jack will lead an adventurous journey in the unknown island and protects his friends from the hands of pirates, cannibals. Jack is indeed a character we all love to have as friend in times of distress.
